Pleasure from the expectation of eternity-amusement-relationship 

New values have made appearances moment by moment and generation gap has disappeared and cultures and histories of East and West are mixed and difference between overculture and subculture becomes blurred. We are placed in a situation which various axes coexist. What is an eager desire that humans pursue and can’t be replaced transcending age, region, position and status?

I consider three eager desires of humans. 

1. About eternity 

Humans who are finite existence in time feel anxiety about ‘presence which they cannot retain’ and ‘future that is not permanent’ beyond description. King Solomon said “He has put eternity in their hearts” through ecclesiastes of Bible.

2. About amusement

Boredom and weariness are difficult for us to bear. Absence of amusement is terrible. Human being who acquired money, fame and power and gratified desires wander looking for amusement. 

3. About relationship

As humans find meaning of existence and amusement in relationships, they desire ‘tie’. In other words, humans desire to ties with god, animals and the nature.  ‘Love’ is an ultimate tie. 

I summarized three desires of humans into ‘eternal delightful love’. It gives ‘deep delight’. In this sense, I expressed ‘eternal delightful love’ as Gipbmm meaning deep delight. 'Gipbmm(깊쁨)' is a word made by combining 'Gip-eun(깊은(Deep)) Gibbeum(기쁨(delight))' of Hangul. My artwork is to pursue, express Gipbmm’. 

‘Gipbmm’ is visualized as a symbol in the virtual space to express ‘Gipbmm’. The narrative situation described by figures, symbols, object, light, space, other devices and person-specific facial expression and actions are expressed as a figurative painting that crosses between figurative and non-figurative forms with the formative elements such as embodied (be accustomed and becomes oneself) rhythmical forms and various colors. This kind of painting is implemented in the form of plane and 3D stereoscopic forms by going through physical space and digital virtual space without any boundaries. 

Chapter1. Series of transformed ‘symbol of Gipbmm ’

Series of transformed ‘symbol of Gipbmm ’ that is signature work is container, sum and accumulation which contains various stories, styles and senses of ‘Gipbmm’.

Chapter2. Preparation, Waiting 

Pushkin says ‘the mind lives in the future’ in <What though life conspire to cheat you>. We cannot stop time regardless of whether we want to stop it. Beings that meet the future as the present prepare and await the future that approaches though they seem to take a rest. Every one of present motions moves forward continuing to face the future. ‘Gipbmmer’ pursuing Gipbmm lives in the present. ‘Gipbmm’ penetrates all time but usefulness of Gipbmm lies in the present and future. We cannot be satisfied with past pleasant memory and approaching 'future’s delight' can be a driving force that helps us hold out the present and ' Gipbmm ' spreads to the present and becomes 'delight of the present'. Like Christmas eve and a day before picnic, a being of the present that prepares and awaits ‘Gipbmm of the future’ that lies before is the very ‘Gipbmmer‘. I hope the relaxation and peace will be in the pleasant mind that is brought by eternity-amusement-relationship.
